About Azimuth
What does “Azimuth” mean? “Azimuth” is a navigational term that refers to the direction on Earth of a navigational star. Azimuth Interactive is all about new directions in publishing and learning. We provide book publishers with a broad range of services: from strategy consulting to content development, project management, marketing, and traditional production and packaging.
Azimuth Interactive has over 20 years of experience in developing new, innovative products for publishers, primarily in higher education, but also in technology training for business, schools, and universities. We were one of the first companies in the United States to develop software products to accompany college textbooks, including interactive software training for Microsoft Office products for use in corporate and university training, and CD-ROM and Web products for leading textbooks used through the world. Azimuth has continued to spearhead the development of interactive products using technologies delivered over the Web, including flash cards, interactive testing, podcasts, and video, and for the iPhone, Kindle, Sony Reader, Nook, and other e-readers.
However, we are not just a learning technology company. We are also content creators and authors of several leading textbooks used throughout the world, including “E-commerce. Business. Technology. Society,” (Pearson Education/Prentice Hall) and “Management Information Systems: Managing the Digital Firm” (Pearson Education/Prentice Hall).
We have also helped publishers manage the development of content for entire series of books along with related digital content and can provide publishers with a highly responsive network of authors that handle just about any content creation project. Azimuth Interactive also provides complete start-to-finish project management services, reducing costs for publishers and delivering products on time and on budget.
Azimuth Interactive also provides production services—designing layouts and compositing. We have developed a model of production which greatly compresses the time needed to produce complex books and entire book series.
And, as budgets for marketing become strained, we have also helped publishers develop unique Web-based marketing strategies to reach the new generations of students and readers.
The founders of Azimuth Interactive are Kenneth C. Laudon and Carol G. Traver. Ken is a graduate of Stanford University, with a Ph.D. from Columbia University, a co-author of several world-leading college textbooks and a professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business for over 25 years. Carol is a graduate of Vassar College and Yale Law School, is the co-author of several leading textbooks, and has been involved in the publishing industry in various capacities for over 15 years. Our team also includes Russell Polo, our Technical Director, and is complemented by an extensive network of specialists with whom we have developed relationships over the years.
